Hi, Super Sleuths. I just love a great mystery. What is even more amazing sometimes is how crimes are solved.
There are criminals who really should NOT quit their day jobs! In honor of the less than perfect villains, today I will share with you four crime scenarios. You must decide which on is really true. Remember, the truth is often stranger than fiction.
Remember, I am keeping track of all of those with correct answers to the super sleuth questions and at the end of the month I will send a new Romantic Suspense release to the one with the most correct answers for the Who Done It Wednesdays.
Time to try your hand at being a super sleuth. Which one of the following crime scenarios really happened?
1. In the middle of setting an arson fire, the arsonist accidentally caught his arm on fire. He called 911 from his current location and the paramedics showed up to treat him. So did the Police.
2. A drug dealer accidentally texted a police officer this question, “Do you want to buy some pot?” The police officer set up the meeting and confiscated four bags of marijuana. The dealer now faces drug charges.
3. In the midst of a bank robbery, the robber passed a note to the teller asking for her to give him all the money. He didn’t realize the scrap of paper he used was a receipt that had his credit card information on it.
4. A kidnapper leaving a ransom message on a voice mail accidentally gave his name. It went something like this, “This is Eric Thompson. If you ever want to see your daughter again…” (note, I changed the name so you couldn’t look it up.)
What do you think? Why?
Wonderful blog! I think all of the above could be true, but I’ll go with 3. Most criminals are not the brightest color in the box, or they wouldn’t be doing what they are doing.
I’ve actually had number 2 happen to me. I got a new phone number that belonged to someone else before me.
I had people sending me texts all the time about buying drugs. I finally called the cops and phone company and had my number changed again.
Thanks, Diane. Glad you are enjoying my blog. You are so right. Sometimes criminals make stupid mistakes. Thanks for stopping by.
All four are possibilities. But I think I’ll pick #3. I do enjoy your blog. Thanks for all of the time you put in it to make it so interesting.
Aw, thanks Marjorie! I’m so glad you are enjoying it!
I agree it’s #3. Although from what I’ve read about some of the stupid things crooks do, all of them sound plausible. lol
They do crazy things, don’t they? People would never believe some of the true stories in books though. Too bad. They are hilarious.
Are you sure it wasn’t all of them? LOL! Those are great! I think it was #3, although I’ve heard of a criminal “hiney-dialing” 9-1-1 instead of texting the police.
Looking forward to the next one. 🙂
LOL…can you imagine as a criminal butt dialing the police. You are right there are certainly plenty of crazy criminal stories.
I’d say all are probable and reminded me of when the glow in the dark shoes that flashed with each step had just come out and were over $100 a pair. A thief ran out of a house he had just robbed and was persued by police. He ducked into a wooded lot but was easily apprehended even though there were no lights and it was dark out. The police just followed his shoes that lit the way. 🙂
ROFL! That is too funny! Thanks for sharing that story Bonnie!
