Super Sleuth Challenge: Holiday Porch Pirates

Fa la la la la la la la lot of theft going on this time of year. One popular choice is snatching packages from front porches.

Like the woman who was arrested for lifting holiday packages fresh from front doors. So how was she caught?

A: A home security camera caught it all on tape, including the license plate number. Never back into the driveway. It might save time…but in the end you get time.

B: The woman gave one of the gifts to her daughter. Turned out the inside of the purse was monogrammed…to a student her daughter attended school with. The daughter returned it, thus sending her mom up the river.

C: The woman’s car broke down three blocks from her latest snatch and grab. The man who stopped to help her noticed several packages all addresssed to different names…he got suspicious and called the police. Lesson to Learn: cover stolen property with a blanket or something!

Music Monday: Holiday Romance

I love Christmas and I love holiday romances. Here are a couple of holiday songs that really make me feel like lighting the fire, fixing a cup of cocoa and snuggling with  my man.

Phil Wickham’s rendition of this classic Christmas song is soooo romantic. I just love it.

Francesca’s song is so soft, beautiful, and yes romantic in tone. I actually kept this song on repeat for days as I wrote the ice skating scene in my Christmas novella, Hope Under Mistletoe. It’s available for .99 right now!

Super Sleuth Wednesday: All In the Name of Thanksgiving!

Oh the yummy holiday of Thanksgiving is coming upon us. Turkey, sweet potato casseroles, dressing…pumpkin pie. It’s a time to celebrate with friends and family. A time to reflect on the things you’re thankful for…

Or it’s time to be act like a turkey and steal some holiday goodies. From Safeway. Yes. It happened.

Riddle me this: What did he steal?

A: A 24lb turkey (the legs for Tiny Tim).

B: 8 boxes of Stove Top Stuffing (You know, instead of potatoes).

C: A turkey fryer (Because it just woudn’t quite fit in the French  Fryer).

Music Monday: Sounds of Peace

Sometimes life gets so hectic and crazy, I need a break. From words. Yes, even words. Too many are crowding my head. From fictional characters, to family, to cashiers, to you name it.

Occasionally, I need some music that feeds my soul, calms my spirit and brings me peace. I find when I’m at rest, I’m refreshed and can listen better. To my fictional characters, my family, cashiers, you  name it.

I love theInstrumental Hymns station on Pandora.

Here’s just one example of what you’ll hear. It’s an hour long, but you can always go back to it and just play it while you do nothing but sip a cup of tea, cider, or coffee. Simply rest.

Super Sleuth Wednesday:Tele-drugs

I’ve read some crazy stuff, but this one takes the cake. I’ve actually worked at a tele-marketer in college to make some quick cash. Yes, I’m the one who interrupted your dinner with, “this will only take a minute” or thirty…

But I never called anyone and tried to sell them drugs. I mean, is this guy too lazy to comb a park, a school yard, the mall? (I’m being a bit snarky. I actually hate that people sell drugs anywhere.)

That’s what this cheeseball did though. He cold called people to sell drugs. So how was he caught? You decide.

A: He called and a teenager answered and agreed to buy the drugs. They set up a meet at Dunkin Donuts. A cop in the drive thru caught the exchange and busted them both. Maybe it pays for cops to eat donuts after all.

B: He called and got a mom who runs the PTO and MADD group in her community. She agreed to to the purchase and called the cops. They watched while the transaction was made and then moved in and made the bust. Don’t mess with moms.

C: He called and randomly reached a police officer, who agreed to buy the drugs. He made the arrest himself at the drop. Murphy’s Law. It’s a real thing.

Music Monday: Evoking Emotion

Morning everyone! I am loving this fall weather. Crisp mornings and warm, but pleasant afternoons. Ah! I’m trying to ignore the fact that winter comes next. I’m not a fan of the cold. Since the weather has been glorious, I’ve been doing a lot of writing in my sunroom. Breeze. Sunshine. It’s motivating.

But what’s really motivating these romantic scenes I’ve been crafting is the following songs. They evoke such emotion. The lyrics. The musical score. Genius!

Wednesday Super Sleuth: Sticky Hands

It was late at night when the robber entered the gas station with what appeared to be a gun under his shirt. The cashiers were positive he was using his finger so they pressed the silent alarm and decided two could play at that game, insisting that they didn’t have any cash in the register.

Knowing he had no way to seriously threaten them–a finger only goes so far, folks–he made a mad dash as sirens wailed in the distance. Behind the counter lied one of three things. Can you guess what he grabbed that sealed his fate. If his sticky fingers hadn’t gotten greedier, he might have been able to escape before police arrived.

B: Scratch-off lottery tickets

C: A multi-pack of Juicy Fruit
