NaNoWriMo Crazy Or Not, Here I Come

Brainstorming Warm-UPS For Week 2

About now we are all thinking that a little bit of Richard Simmons type warm-up enthusiasm might be required to get through this month without loosing our minds. I’m here to tell you:

You’ve Got This!!!

Ask yourself a few Warm-Up questions for this week:

*Why do I write? This will put things in perspective. You love to write. Guess What? That’s what you get to do all week. Aren’t you excited?

*What was the best part of last week? What made it a success? Sometimes in order to duplicate success we must somehow figure out what started it in the first place.

*Where did I leave off last week/yesterday? What will happen next? Speaking this out loud often helps to get us started with what happens on the page. Tell a friend, a spouse, your potted plant, etc.

*What do I have to gain by reaching my goal this week? Sometimes it helps to look at the big picture. Each week adds up to a lot of words in a month. Focus on how each week can meet your goal in your career.

*Ask your spouse, writing buddy, or a friend to write you a note of encouragement or leave an encouraging voice mail on your phone so you can read or listen when you get discouraged.

*In a few words write down the hardest thing you’ve done in your life. In front of those words write the words “IT’S NOT __________________”. Then whenever you doubt yourself, or get to grumbling read the phrase out loud.

How did your writing goals go last week?

(Please remember, I will stop by to reply to comments periodically, but I am also doing NaNoWriMo. I might not be as quick as usual.)

  1. I’m not doing NaNo, but these are great suggestions for anytime! Unfortunately, due to prior commitments I didn’t get as much writing done as I wanted. 😦 But it’s a brand-new week…
To all you NaNoers out there. You.Can.Do.It!
