A sneak peak at the heroine:

Psychology professor and criminal profiler Taylor Martin prides herself on being able to solve any crime, except the one she wants most desperately to solve–the disappearance of her father twenty years ago. When she finally has a lead on his whereabouts, Taylor returns home to Logan Point, Mississippi, to investigate. But as she is stalking the truth about the past, someone is stalking her.

(I loved her spunk and the spark she shares with the hero. She’s intelligent and intuitive, but struggles to balance that with what she feels in her heart.)

A sneak peak at the hero:

Nick Sinclair pens mystery novels for a living, but the biggest mystery to him is how he can ever get over the death of his wife–a tragedy he believes he could have prevented. With his estranged brother the only family he has left, Nick sets out to find him. But when he crosses paths with Taylor, all he seems to find is trouble.

(Nick endeared me to him with his strong loyalty for family and tugged at my heart with his wife’s loss. Early in the story I felt the chemistry between him and the heroine and cheered for them to get together.)

What do you love about the first pages of Shadows of the Past?  (Click the title link to go to Amazon and read the first few sample pages.)

  1. The fast-paced prize-winning opening chapter nearly made my hair stand on end and took my breath way. I’ve now read my advanced copy twice, once for great story, second time to glean very skillful plot pace and character interweaving. This book and author are going places. I’m proud of Pat and so very pleased.

  2. Thanks, Michelle! And the question you you kept asking made such a difference. What is the POV character’s goal in this chapter? :-)

  4. Amber Writes says:

I really like that the main characters are a psych professor and a mystery writer! It seems new and interesting while also reminding me of favorite shows like Mystery Woman, Diagnosis Murder, and Jane Doe!

  6. Hi Pat,

Congratulations on your debut release! How exciting!

And I’m excited to find another romantic suspense author. :) Can’t wait to read Shadows of the Past! It sounds like a page-turner.

  7. Besides the fantastic cover and the gripping first pages, what I really liked was the first 4 lines….kind of a creepy Shakespearean prose. Nice!

  8. […] Thanks everyone for stopping by to celebrate with me in the debut of Patricia Bradley’s new novel, Shadows of the Past. […]
